Spending Time with the Saints in Europe
In May 2009, the Lord granted the opportunity for a sister and me to travel to Europe. Our original plan was to visit a family, enjoy ourselves, and have a nice vacation. However, the Lord had other plans for us. We instead got knit and blended with the saints in Europe! I can truly say that spending time with the saints was the best part of our trip. We didn’t even have to be in a meeting or anything; just being with the saints such as eating dinner, talking with one another, or just even walking somewhere together was so sweet. The saints gladly opened their homes to us on short notice, provided us with food, and told us to help ourselves to anything. I felt so comfortable and right at home that many times I’d forget that I was in a foreign country. The saints usually weren’t able to show us around during the day because they had to work, so dinner was usually the time when we’d fellowship together. Even though the saints were tired from the day, they would still spend time with us whenever they could.
What really impressed me was that even though the saints were small in number, their enjoyment of the Lord was enormous. There was always such a releasing of their spirits, and even the young ones stood up to share without being prodded by somebody. A young brother, who had just turned ten, declared a stanza and recited a verse that he had been memorizing during the Lord’s Table meeting. That was such an encouragement. Young people, we should never think we are too young to say something of the Lord, and we shouldn’t depend on older saints to maintain the enjoyment of the Body.
After being in Europe for a month, it was time to leave. I desperately wanted to stay because I felt like I would be missing out on the Lord’s move. It was so hard to picture the Lord’s move before going to Europe, but now that I’ve seen it and experienced it, the Lord has put a burden in my heart for Europe. If you ever have a chance to go to Europe or even have a feeling to migrate, please go. The saints will take care of you, and they will be so encouraged by your coming. And not only that, you will be able to see for yourself how the Lord is working in Europe. Praise the Lord for His move!
